Keep in mind that you will always, in some way, be compared to or looked at in comparison to how she was treated by the other men in her life. Such as her brothers, if any, and especially her father. Her father is the male figure that has played the biggest role in her life even if he has been absent in her life. If he was absent in her life, then she will have many thoughts of why he was absent. Why didn't he love her enough to be around? Will you be there for her or will you be absent like her father?
When it comes to her father I suggest when getting to know her, try and find out how she feels about her father. If you feel there is some resentment towards her father you could maybe ask her something like "What, is your father a jerk or something?" and see if she defends him or not. If she does it's better than if she doesn't. If she feels her dad is a jerk then she could deem all men to be jerks and you might want to steer clear. She may be a man hater. If she does defend her dad, at least a little, then you'll know there is hope.
A lot of relationships have ended at the point where the parents come into the picture. At the point where you meet her parents, if you do not handle it properly, you may be gone. First thing to remember is to always be on her side. You must stick up for her against her parents if needed. She must know she can trust you on this. You must be strong for her.
